EIMS Post 1 - 8 November 2026

Dave Kelly - General Manager Quality One Australia

For some time now Quality One has been advocating Enterprise Integrated Management Systems (EIMS) as a comprehensive approach to building management systems within enterprises and organisations. The approach considers four elements on which to build the integrated system but instead of using pillars as the descriptor a scissor lift is used to reinforce the integration of the four elements on which the management system sits. The four elements, People, Process, Data, Structure, are interdependent within the system as in the image below.

  • People: The people within the enterprise are using the management system to assist in the operations of the enterprise. People are integrated through process ownership and execution generating data and records from processes which are stored and analysed within the enterprise structure.
  • Process: The methods which the enterprise identifies to deliver its requirements, objectives and outcomes. Process is integrated through the requirement of people and personnel to execute, data being generated from the process characteristics to be measured and being defined within the structure that links them to other process, assets and equipment and regulatory and standards requirements.
  • Data:  The records, digital assets, assets and tools generated by the execution of process within the structure of the enterprise. Records require set up, analysis and action by people and personnel within the structure of the enterprise.
  • Structure:  The overall design of the enterprise integrating each of the elements both vertically and horizontally. People, Process and Data all exist within the organisational model in an integrated way. This includes artifacts that define clear roles and responsibilities, governance models, documented process hierarchy and aligning outcomes with the data that each element or artefact produces.

More to come on the Enterprise Integrated Management Systems (EIMS) approach which is underpinned by Organisational Robustness Analysis (ORA) in subsequent posts. Contact Quality One is you are interested in further discussions.
